Why does MaineFastNet have such a limited dial-up service area?

We at MaineFastNet recognize that using phone lines to obtain your Internet service will soon be a thing of the past so to speak.  We offer a broadband wireless connection that is far superior for Internet browsing over modem dial-up services.  While we do offer a fast dependable modem pool for those that want a clean dial-up connection, we have chosen to pursue alternatives that can meet the needs of the people and businesses of Maine.  Our broadband Internet connection could be the solution you have been looking for.

What is meant by "limited cgi-bin access"?

As of right now this means you do not have access to a cgi-bin, what you do have is access to use programs that we have placed in the cgi-bin.  We are currently working testing the security around allowing this kind of access.  Although other hosting providers may offer this kind of access, we know that they are not secure.  We are willing to work with you to allow you to use the scripts you would like to use, if you have any questions about cgi-bin usage please contact us.
